EcoLog Unveils Innovative Carbon Carrier Design in Collaboration with Deltamarin
EcoLog, a company associated with the Peter Livanos-led LNG shipper GasLog, has revealed a groundbreaking design for a low-pressure, shallow-draft liquid CO2 (LCO2) carrier. Developed in partnership with Deltamarin, this new vessel is tailored for short-range, intra-EU routes and is set to be tendered at shipyards globally.
The initial design phase involved extensive exploration of various solutions to optimize the vessel for efficient LCO2 transportation. Deltamarin highlighted that they examined different configurations for the cargo containment and handling system, taking into account the diverse compositions of CO2.
The eco-friendly design incorporates several innovative features aimed at reducing environmental impact. It includes LNG dual-fuel propulsion, shore power (AMP) capabilities, and wind assistance.
EcoLog’s strategic vision focuses on constructing and owning a fleet of LCO2 carriers to support the growing carbon capture, utilization, and sequestration (CCUS) sector. The company’s mission is to bridge the gap between major carbon emitters and sequestration sites or re-use facilities, leveraging its extensive midstream infrastructure, which includes both ships and terminals.
With this new design, EcoLog is poised to play a crucial role in the transition to more sustainable carbon management solutions, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change.
