Wärtsilä Chosen for Cargo Handling and Fuel Systems in Very Large Ethane Gas Carriers
Wärtsilä Gas Solutions, a division of the technology conglomerate Wärtsilä, has secured a contract to provide cargo handling and fuel gas supply systems for three new 98k Very Large Ethane Gas Carrier (VLEC) vessels.
These vessels are under construction at the HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) yard in Korea for an Oceania-based ship owner. The order was confirmed by Wärtsilä in Q1, 2024.
This selection of Wärtsilä solutions follows a recent order from HHI for three new VLECs for a different client, highlighting Wärtsilä’s strong position in this sector.

The delivery of Wärtsilä equipment to the yard is scheduled to commence in March 2025.
