Maersk and Inmarsat Partner to Upgrade Global Fleet Connectivity
For the first time in its history, Ocean Network Express (ONE) has christened a newbuild vessel that it owns and operates. The vessel, named ONE SPARKLE, enhances ONE’s competitive edge in the global maritime industry while reinforcing its commitment to sustainability.
Built by Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan, South Korea, ONE SPARKLE features an optimized hull design, cutting-edge energy-saving devices, and integrated smart technology for enhanced operational efficiency. It is also equipped with a shore power connection, allowing for zero emissions while docked at ports.
Registered in Singapore, this container carrier has a capacity of 13,800 TEUs and is dual-fuel compatible, capable of operating on both methanol and ammonia. This makes the vessel future-ready, ensuring adaptability to environmentally friendly fuels as the industry evolves.
ONE SPARKLE is part of a 20-vessel series ordered by ONE from shipyards in Korea and Japan. These vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2025 and 2026, further strengthening ONE’s fleet expansion and sustainability efforts.
