Grimaldi Group Launches New Ro-Ro Service Between Italy and Turkey

The Grimaldi Group is set to launch a new Ro-Ro service connecting Italy and Turkey, with operations beginning on September 14. The service will link the ports of Trieste and Ambarli, providing a vital maritime trade route between the two countries.
Two of Grimaldi’s most eco-friendly Ro-Ro vessels, the ECO MALTA and ECO MEDITERRANEA, will be deployed on this route, offering two weekly departures from each port. These vessels are part of the GG5G class and come equipped with advanced technologies, including hybrid propulsion, lithium batteries for zero emissions in port, fuel-efficient designs, and solar panels covering 350 square meters. Compared to older vessels, the ECO MALTA and ECO MEDITERRANEA are twice as efficient in terms of CO2 emissions per unit of cargo.
This new service will benefit leading automobile manufacturers such as BMW, Land Rover, Kia, Hyundai, and Mercedes-Benz, enabling them to leverage the route for both the import of raw materials and the export of finished products.
The route addresses the increasing demand for a reliable maritime trade connection between Italy and Turkey. The strategic location of Trieste offers access to Northern Italy and Central Europe, while Ambarli is near Istanbul and Turkey’s economic district, enhancing supply chain efficiency and boosting trade between the two regions.
