Captain’s Eye, an AI safety technology company, has completed its Series A funding round, attracting investment from Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS), MOL PLUS of Mitsui OSK Lines, and The Caravel Group. Together, these investors manage over 1,700 vessels and are supporting Captain’s Eye’s goal to expand its AI-powered video analytics system across fleets, ports, and onshore facilities.

Founded in 2020 by Uri Ben Dor and Doron Oizerovich, Captain’s Eye has developed a real-time monitoring system that detects fires, leaks, and unsafe crew behaviour, improving vessel safety and security. The technology is already deployed on hundreds of ships worldwide.

CEO Uri Ben Dor emphasized that the new investors bring more than capital, enabling a faster global rollout and ongoing technological development.

EPS CEO Cyril Ducau described the system as a “game-changer” for enhancing safety and operational resilience, while MOL PLUS CEO Takuya Sakamoto highlighted its ability to prevent fires on car carriers. Caravel COO Angad Banga noted that the system integrates seamlessly with existing ship management, helping reduce risks and optimize performance.

This funding round highlights a broader industry trend: shipping operators are increasingly focused on early risk detection, resilience, and higher safety standards.
