CMA CGM Expands Its Eco-Friendly Fleet with the LNG-Powered “Adventure”
CMA CGM has marked another milestone in its journey toward sustainable shipping with the unveiling of the LNG-powered container ship, the CMA CGM ADVENTURE. The ship was officially named during a grand ceremony held at the Samsung Heavy Industries Shipyard (SHI) in Geoje, South Korea.

A New Eco-Friendly Giant
The CMA CGM ADVENTURE, an 85,000 dwt container ship, is the ninth vessel in a series of ten ultra-modern ships designed to enhance fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. With its capacity of 7,300 TEUs, the vessel will operate as part of CMA CGM’s Chesapeake Bay Express (CBX) service, connecting Asia and North America.
This initiative is part of CMA CGM’s ambitious strategy to deploy LNG-powered vessels across its global fleet. By adopting Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) technology, the company significantly lowers carbon dioxide emissions, sulfur oxides, and particulate matter, underscoring its commitment to environmentally friendly shipping solutions.
FORT DIAMANT’s Historic Maiden Call
In addition to the ADVENTURE, CMA CGM recently welcomed the CMA CGM FORT DIAMANT, another LNG-powered vessel, into its fleet. Delivered in November 2024 by Samsung Heavy Industries, the 7,300 TEU ship achieved a significant milestone on 16th December by becoming the first LNG-powered container ship to dock at India’s Nhava Sheva Free Port Terminal (NSFT). This historic call demonstrates CMA CGM’s expanding global network and focus on sustainability.
Pioneering Green Shipping
These advancements highlight CMA CGM’s leadership in eco-friendly maritime operations. With the introduction of LNG-powered vessels, the company is setting a new standard for sustainable shipping, aiming to meet global demand while reducing its environmental footprint.
The CMA CGM ADVENTURE and FORT DIAMANT are more than just vessels; they represent a shift towards a cleaner, more efficient future for global trade.
